Why just coffee cups?
Abena has many years of experience in creating customized and sustainable product solutions. Solutions that can help customers worldwide to work more environmentally friendly. Within the disposable and catering market, Abena sees a great opportunity to be able to help its customers, and thus consumers, to reduce bothCO2 emissions and the amount of plastic waste. Environmentally friendly disposable food products and packaging have seriously come into focus.
In addition, the Nordic Ecolabelled coffee mugs must not contain recycled material that may contain chemical residues. There must also be no added harmful chemicals such as fluorinated substances and phthalates in the coffee cups.
"We can see that the tendency among consumers is that more and more demand environmentally friendly products, especially when it comes to food," says Kasper Haick Lundsgaard, Global Category Manager at Abena. "It is no longer enough that the food is sustainable and organic, but it must also be readily available in the form of ready meals and fast food, and people also look at whether the packaging burdens the environment when they dispose of it."
Tough environmental requirements
There is full traceability of all resources and materials in Abena's new coffee cup, and in addition to being Nordic Ecolabelled, the raw materials also come from sustainable forestry.
